Observation of microcavity fine structure

چکیده
We observe fine structure in the resonance spectra of optical microcavities. identify polarization-resolved modes spectrum and find that frequencies split accordance with theoretical prediction. The observed is dominantly caused by an spin-orbit coupling non-paraxial propagation reflection. Both effects are intrinsic, i.e. present ideal rotation-symmetric system, scale inversely proportional to mirror radius curvature. For cavities a small curvature, influence on important unavoidable should thus be taken into account.

Observation of bright polariton solitons in a semiconductor microcavity
Microcavity polaritons are composite half-light half-matter quasiparticles, which have recently been demonstrated to exhibit rich physical properties, such as nonequilibrium condensation, parametric scattering and superfluidity. At the same time, polaritons have important advantages over photons for information processing, since their excitonic component leads to weaker diffraction and stronger...
متن کاملObservation of an exceptional point in a chaotic optical microcavity.
We present spectroscopic observation of an exceptional point or the transition point between mode crossing and avoided mode crossing of neighboring quasieigenmodes in a chaotic optical microcavity of a large size parameter. The transition to the avoided mode crossing was impeded until the degree of deformation exceeded a threshold deformation owing to the system's openness also enhanced by the ...
متن کاملDirect Observation of the M1 Transition between the Ground Term Fine Structure Levels of W VIII
We present a direct observation of the M1 transition between the fine structure splitting in the 4 f 135s25p6 2F ground term of W VIII. The spectroscopic data of few-times ionized tungsten ions are important for the future ITER diagnostics, but there is a serious lack of data. The present study is part of an ongoing effort to solve this problem. Emission from the tungsten ions produced and trap...
متن کاملObservation of excitonic fine structure in a 2D transition-metal dichalcogenide semiconductor.
Two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors, such as transition-metal dichalcogenide monolayers (TMD 1Ls), have attracted increasing attention owing to the underlying fundamental physics (e.g., many body effects) and the promising optoelectronic applications such as light-emitting diodes. Though much progress has been made, intrinsic excitonic states of TMD 1Ls are still highly debated in theory, which...
متن کاملFine structure of hyperbolic
The main theme of the book Fine Structures of Hyperbolic Diffeomorphisms, by Pinto, Rand and Ferreira, is the rigidity and flexibility of two-dimensional diffeomorphisms on hyperbolic basic sets and properties of invariant measures that are related to the geometry of these invariant sets. In his remarkable article [23], Smale sets the foundations of the modern theory of dynamical systems. He de...
